The Kerala government asked for help from the Indian Army to rescue people affected by the devastating landslides in the Wayanad district.

 

A Defense PRO announced that 43 personnel, led by the Second-in-Command from the 122 Infantry Battalion (TA) MADRAS, have been sent to support the ongoing rescue efforts.

 

The team, which includes a Medical Officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 40 soldiers, is prepared to offer critical assistance in the affected area.

 

Their deployment is intended to enhance the existing rescue operations and provide relief to those impacted by the landslides.

 

The landslides, which occurred early on Tuesday, have caused significant damage, including the destruction of several houses, swelling of water bodies, and uprooting of trees.

 

The scenic villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha are now isolated from other areas, leaving many people stranded.
