While the court clarified that investigators remain entirely free to question Khan regarding the matter, it ruled that no coercive or punitive action, including arrest, can be taken against him while the interim protection is in place.

A Patna district court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to the well-known educator Faisal Khan, widely popular as Khan Sir, in connection with a case involving a firing incident at his coaching institute earlier this month. The relief was granted during a hearing on Khan's anticipatory bail plea before the District Judge's court. While the court clarified that investigators remain entirely free to question Khan regarding the matter, it ruled that no coercive or punitive action, including arrest, can be taken against him while the interim protection is in place.

During previous proceedings, the court had directed the police to present the case diary and the evidence collected so far. Following submissions by Khan's legal counsel, the court extended the interim relief to him. It also reserved its order on the bail application of Roshan Anand, another individual accused in the case.

The case stems from an incident on June 2, when a group of 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the premises of Khan Global Studies (KGS) in Patna and pelted stones at the coaching institute. A day later, the police detained two security guards employed by the institute after a video surfaced on social media which purportedly showed them firing shots. Authorities confirmed that the weapons allegedly used in the incident were seized and sent for forensic examination. A First Information Report (FIR) was subsequently registered at the Kadamkuan police station, and both guards remain in judicial custody.

Although Khan Sir initially alleged that individuals linked to a rival coaching institute had masterminded the attack on KGS, members of that rival institute later hit back, accusing him of orchestrating the entire episode himself. Pointing to the viral video of the guards firing shots, they claimed that the incident had been staged. Khan Sir has strongly denied these counter-allegations, and the police investigation into the matter continues.
