Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, alongside key leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Bhupinder Hooda, are among the 40 star campaigners named for the party in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for 5th October.

New party members and renowned wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, who recently joined the Congress following their high-profile protest against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, also feature prominently on the list.

The inclusion of these sports icons signals the Congress’s strategy to appeal to the state’s substantial sporting community.

Prominent figures such as Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Haryana affairs in-charge Deepak Babaria, and state unit chief Udai Bhan are also slated to campaign.

Veteran leaders like Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, and Charanjit Singh Channi will join in, reinforcing the party’s efforts to boost its electoral chances.

Other notable campaigners include Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Partap Singh Bajwa, Pawan Khera, Deepender Singh Hooda, and Kanhaiya Kumar. The Congress hopes this star-studded lineup will help it counter the BJP's bid for a third consecutive term.

With the BJP aiming for a hat-trick in Haryana, the Congress is keen to leverage anti-incumbency sentiments and present a strong challenge. Polling will take place for all 90 assembly seats on 5th October, and results will be declared on 8th October.
