Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has urged Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to work together and focus on the state’s development amid ongoing speculation about a rift between them.
Speaking at an event in Kalaburagi, Kharge emphasised that people want progress, not political disputes. He praised both leaders and encouraged them to stay united for Karnataka’s growth. He stressed the need for new roads, schools, water projects, and healthcare centers, saying that all of this would be possible only if they work as a team.
There have been ongoing rumors about a leadership change in Karnataka later this year, with talk of a "rotational chief minister" or "power-sharing" arrangement. Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress president, is considered a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s post.
While some Congress leaders support the idea of Shivakumar taking over, others, including ministers and Siddaramaiah’s aides, have dismissed the speculation, insisting that Siddaramaiah will complete his full five-year term.
Siddaramaiah took office in May 2023, and for now, the party leadership wants stability and focus on governance.
