A sub-inspector with the Kolkata Police is facing serious allegations of molestation after a domestic help accused him of intimidation too at his home in South 24 Parganas. The incident reportedly took place just a few days after the woman had started working at the residence, having been placed there through a private agency.
According to the complaint filed with the Narendrapur police, the officer waited until his family members were out of the house before allegedly pinning the woman from behind. When she resisted and protested, the situation reportedly took a darker turn. The survivor said the sub-inspector threatened to frame her in a fabricated theft case to keep her quiet. She further alleged that she was coerced into signing or writing on a blank sheet of paper under duress.
The woman fled the house in a state of shock and initially stayed silent out of fear of the officer's position. However, she eventually reached out to the authorities by sending an email complaint to the Narendrapur police station. Even after coming forward, the survivor says she continues to receive threats intended to make her drop the case.
Although an investigation by the Narendrapur police is underway in the matter, there is no official statement from the Kolkata Police department on the actions of its officer in the case. This incident has raised concern in the area, especially with regard to the use of influence by the higher-ranking official in order to suppress the victim.
