With a by-poll in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency pending, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao is putting in a determined effort to lift the morale of party cadre and chalk out a winning strategy. The party leadership does not want to lose another constituency in the city after its recent loss in the Secunderabad Cantonment by-poll.
Despite the formation of a Congress government, the BRS still holds a strong grip on the city, as evidenced by its performance in the 2023 Assembly and local civic body elections. However, the recent defection of some city-based MLAs has motivated the party to act swiftly and decisively.
According to party sources, the leadership has already swung into action even before the official by-election schedule has been announced. KT Rama Rao has begun the election preparations by organising meetings at the division level, including sessions in the Rehmat Nagar and Vengalraonagar divisions, with another planned for Erragadda.
Having already held an initial meeting with constituency incharges, the BRS leader has instructed party officials to engage with voters and highlight the Congress government's failures in delivering on its promises. He has also been warning people that voting for the Congress could grant the government a "licence to demolish their houses." He stressed that if development is to continue, the BRS must return to power.
A senior party leader noted that KTR has been insistent on restarting a 'Vijaya Yatra' (victory march) from Jubilee Hills. "He has clearly said that good days are ahead for the party and these will start right after the local body elections," the BRS leader stated. In a bold promise, the official added that if the party wins the local body elections, "all things will change like the police personnel will be lining up for an appointment with Ram Anna."
KTR’s message to his supporters is that development was possible only under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao. During a recent meeting in Gadwal, he urged the party to teach the Congress a lesson in the upcoming local body elections. "Let us hoist the pink flag on Gadwal Municipality," he said, adding that the by-elections would expose who truly has the strength. Party leaders believe that the recent meetings will significantly boost cadre morale ahead of the polls.
