Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao has lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing his administration of using the police force to settle political scores. The friction centres on a recent Special Investigation Team (SIT) notice served to BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao in connection with a phone-tapping probe. KTR took particular offense to the fact that officials pasted the notice on the door of the Leader of the Opposition’s house late Friday night, despite KCR having already provided his address in a formal reply.

Taking to X, KTR slammed the move as a display of "arrogance," questioning why the SIT felt the need to post notices at an empty house in the middle of the night. He suggested that the authorities were merely seeking a "devilish pleasure" by trying to embarrass the veteran leader publicly.

RS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar on Saturday accused Reddy of attempting to harass former KCR out of political rivalry in the phone-tapping case.

Reacting to the SIT serving notices to Chandrashekhar Rao in Siddipet, Praveen Kumar took umbrage at the SIT demanding Chandrashekhar Rao’s presence at his Nandi Nagar residence for interrogation. He said that the SIT was following double standards, as notices were served to former minister T Harish Rao at his Hyderabad residence despite his Siddipet address being given in his election affidavit.

One of the contentious issues is the venue and process of questioning. Although KCR had asked that the inquiry be conducted at his Erravalli residence, the SIT is said to have been adamant that the questioning be done at his Nandi Nagar home. KTR had explained that, as per normal legal procedures, people above 65 years are normally questioned at their residence. He questioned whether the police were genuinely ignorant of these Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or if they were being intentionally weaponised to harass political rivals.

Dismissing the cases as illegal and politically motivated, KTR asserted that while the current government may lack respect for the law, the BRS retains full faith in the judiciary. He vowed to challenge the actions in court and expose the government's "wrongful acts" to the public. He, further, added that the people of Telangana are closely watching the treatment of opposition leaders and will deliver a fitting response when the time comes.
