A police case has been filed against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao and two former MLAs, Balka Suman and Gandra Venkataramna Reddy, for unauthorized drone flying. The incident occurred on July 26 during their visit to the Medigadda Barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram project.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered on July 29 at the Mahadevpur police station in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district, but it came to light on August 6. The complaint was lodged by Vali Shaik, an Assistant Executive Engineer at Medigadda, who reported that the BRS leaders operated a drone without the necessary permissions, posing a potential security threat.
The FIR charges Rama Rao and the two former MLAs under Section 223 (b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3(5) for joint criminal liability. Flying drones at key installations without authorization is prohibited, and the BRS leaders' actions violated this order.
Following the visit, Rama Rao alleged a Congress conspiracy behind the sinking of the barrage piers in October 2023, suggesting an attempt to portray the Kaleshwaram project as a failure just before the Assembly elections.
