Police on Sunday recovered the body of a second Gujjar youth who, along with two others, had been missing from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district since last month.
According to police reports, the body has been identified as that of Mohammad Showkat, son of Mohammad Sadiq Bajad, a resident of Chata Doonda, Rajouri, who was currently residing in Chandian Pajan, Qazigund.
His remains were found in Vaishow Nallah at Mah Ashmuji in Kulgam district early this morning.
Last month, three youths—Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, his younger brother Showkat Ahmad Bajad, and a third individual, Mukhtar Ahmad—were reported missing from Qazigund.
Their relatives had been searching for them for the past month and had subsequently lodged a missing persons report at the local police station.

Three days ago, the body of Riyaz Ahmad Bajad was recovered from the same Nallah. All three missing men hailed from Rajouri and were engaged in labour work in Qazigund.
According to initial accounts, the trio had left for Ashmuji, Kulgam, on 13 February to attend a function at a relative’s house but disappeared before reaching their destination. Their mobile phones have remained switched off since the day of their disappearance.
Following the filing of the missing persons report, police, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), launched a search operation to locate the missing individuals.
Thus far, two bodies have been recovered, while the search for the third missing youth continues.
