Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu to check on the health of the police personnel injured in an intense encounter with terrorists in Kathua district earlier this week.
The gunfight, which took place in the remote forested area of Safiyan on March 27, resulted in the deaths of four police personnel and two terrorists.
The slain militants are believed to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Three other police personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
During his hospital visit, L-G Sinha was briefed by a team of senior doctors on the medical condition of Subdivisional Police Officer (Border, Kathua) Dheeraj Katoch and Special Police Officer (SPO) Bharat Jalhotra.
He inquired about their ongoing treatment and the procedures being followed to aid their recovery.
Expressing solidarity with the injured personnel and their families, the lieutenant governor assured them of all possible assistance from the administration.
He directed the hospital authorities to provide the best medical care to ensure the swift recovery of the wounded officers.
Meanwhile, the third injured police official continues to receive treatment at a hospital in Kathua.
