Kerala's Labour Minister, V Sivankutty, has called upon Adani Port authorities to extend compensation to the family of a young medical student tragically killed in a freak road accident near Vizhinjam.

The 27-year-old victim, Ananthu, lost his life when a massive rock slipped from a tipper lorry transporting stones for the Vizhinjam Port construction, crushing him on Tuesday.

Expressing condolences, Minister Sivankutty visited Ananthu's family, assuring them of support from the state government and pledging to discuss compensation with the Chief Minister.

Highlighting the gravity of the loss, the minister emphasized Ananthu's promising future as a BDS student and stressed the importance of adequate compensation from the Adani Group, responsible for the port's development.

However, there has been no immediate response from the company regarding the compensation plea.

Sivankutty also promised a thorough investigation into the tragic incident, vowing to ensure that construction activities adhere strictly to safety standards.

He further instructed the district administration to address all concerns raised by locals and submit a detailed report on the matter.

The incident underscores the necessity for stringent safety measures in construction zones to prevent such accidents in the future.

The Labour Minister's intervention highlights the government's commitment to ensuring justice for victims and their families in such unfortunate circumstances.

In response to this tragic incident, there has been widespread concern among locals regarding the safety protocols in construction areas.

The untimely demise of Ananthu has not only left his family shattered but has also raised questions about the accountability of construction companies in ensuring the safety of workers and bystanders.

With the ongoing development of the Vizhinjam Port, there is a pressing need for heightened vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines to prevent similar accidents.

The Labour Minister's call for compensation reflects the government's responsibility to provide support and assistance to affected families during times of crisis.

As investigations into the accident proceed, it is imperative that all stakeholders prioritize safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents from recurring in the future.
