Lahaul and Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh is covered in a thick layer of snow after heavy snowfall on Monday. Light to moderate snowfall continued on Tuesday, affecting daily life in the region.
Roads are blocked, and vehicles are buried under snow, causing major disruptions in transportation for both residents and travelers.
Himachal Pradesh IMD Senior Scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma said the sudden weather change was due to Western disturbances, which started on February 25 and continued until late last night. Another Western disturbance became active on March 2, bringing more snowfall and rain.
He predicted heavy snowfall in Kangra, Chamba, and Lahaul-Spiti, while Kullu and Mandi would experience heavy rain. However, he added that the weather is expected to clear by March 5.
