Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi on Monday, discussing key railway and border road projects for the state.
During his meeting with Vaishnaw, Lalduhoma emphasised the finalisation of the Sairang-Thenzawl railway line alignment, taking into account the implementation of the Thenzawl Peace City master plan. The Railway Minister assured that the alignment review would be completed by February 2026.
The Chief Minister also requested a rescheduling of train services between Sairang-Guwahati and Sairang-Kolkata to ensure earlier arrivals at Sairang for commuter convenience. Vaishnaw agreed to adjust timings accordingly. Lalduhoma further highlighted that the Rajdhani Express currently takes 42 hours and 20 minutes to reach New Delhi from Sairang and urged both a reduction in travel time and an increase in weekly frequency from once to twice. The minister assured him that travel time would be shortened by approximately four hours and frequency would be considered.

Additionally, Lalduhoma proposed integrating Mizoram’s Inner Line Permit (ILP) portal with the IRCTC ticketing system to simplify travel formalities for visitors. Vaishnaw agreed to examine the proposal. The Chief Minister also suggested identifying a suitable site near Sairang station for a warehouse or cold storage facility to support agricultural and logistical needs.
Separately, in a meeting with DoNER Minister Scindia, Lalduhoma requested financial support from the Centre for constructing strategic border roads, including the Pukzing-Silsury road in north-western Mamit district and the Champhai–Tualpui road. Both projects had earlier received approval from the Empowered Inter-Ministerial Committee of the DoNER Ministry in August. Scindia assured that funds would be sanctioned in the current financial year or the next, depending on availability.
Lalduhoma was accompanied by Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, adviser KC Lalmalsawmzauva, and Officer on Special Duty Lalrodingi during the meeting. The discussions underscore the Mizoram government’s focus on strengthening transport connectivity and boosting infrastructure for both civilian and strategic purposes.
