A Lamborghini driver was arrested after ramming his vehicle into two pedestrians on a footpath near an under-construction building in Noida’s Sector 94 on Sunday, police confirmed.
The victims, identified as labourers from Chhattisgarh, were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Both sustained fractures in their legs but were declared out of danger, officials stated.
A video of the incident, widely circulated online, captured a local asking the accused whether he was aware of the number of casualties.
In response, the driver, identified as Deepak from Ajmer, was heard saying, “Koi mar gaya idhar? (Did anyone die here?)” before stepping out of the vehicle.
In the footage, a voice could also be heard urging bystanders to call the police.
Bhupendra Singh, in-charge of Sector 126 Police Station, said, “Two labourers were injured in the accident. They hail from Chhattisgarh and have sustained leg fractures. However, their condition is stable and not life-threatening.”
The incident occurred adjacent to an under-construction building. Authorities have identified the vehicle as being registered in Puducherry.
“The driver, Deepak, a resident of Ajmer, has been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized,” Singh added.
During initial questioning, the accused claimed that the accident occurred due to a fault in the vehicle.
Further investigation is ongoing, police said.
