One individual died while three others were injured when stones falling from hilltops hit their vehicle on the Kalka-Shimla national highway in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, the police officials informed on Monday.
As per the information shared by police, the incident occurred around 2.30 am on the Shimla highway when an SUV carrying four people and newspapers was struck by shooting stones near Datyar and Chaki Mor around 2:30 am.
The vehicle was traveling to Shimla despite the stretch being closed due to intermittent rains in the past few days. The stones hit the front of the vehicle, resulting in the death of Dev Raj (40), a resident of Punjab.
Three others, Kuldeep Singh (driver), Bhavuk, and Vandana Sondhi, were injured in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at ESI Hospital in Parwanoo.
According to Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
