Security forces demolish the house of militant Adnan Shafi in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, as part of a major crackdown following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have razed the houses of three active militants in the districts of Bandipora, Pulwama, and Shopian, as security forces continue their crackdown on the terror network following the Pahalgam terror attack, officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, the house of Adnan Shafi, who had joined militant ranks last year, was demolished late on Saturday night at Wandina in Shopian district.

The house of another active militant, Amir Nazir, was also demolished in Pulwama district, they added.

In Bandipora district, the house of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Jameel Ahmad Shergojri was destroyed. Shergojri has been an active militant since 2016, the officials said.

With these latest demolitions, the total number of houses belonging to militants and their overground workers brought down since the Pahalgam terror attack has risen to nine.

On Tuesday, militants opened fire at Baisaran, a popular tourist destination in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, killing 26 individuals, most of whom were holidaymakers from other states. The attack has led to a spike in tensions between India and Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation, asserted, “the killers would be pursued ‘to the ends of the earth’.”

The security forces have since intensified search operations and targeted the terror infrastructure across the Valley as part of the sustained counter-terror measures.
