Around 2,000 police and Home Guard personnel will be deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of Ganesh idol immersion processions in Maharashtra's Latur district on Tuesday, according to local authorities.
A police official confirmed that CCTV cameras and drones will monitor the procession routes, with over 1,300 Ganesh mandals expected to participate across Latur city and the district.
Support centres for children and senior citizens will be established, and specific locations have been designated for collecting Ganesh idols, the official said.
"On duty will be 120 police officers, 1,250 personnel, 950 Home Guards, units of the State Reserve Police Force, four Riot Control Squads, and two Quick Response Teams in Latur district," the official added.
Preventive measures have also been taken against 3,225 habitual offenders to ensure the processions and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations proceed peacefully.
Authorities have urged Ganesh mandals to refrain from using loudspeakers and laser beams during the processions.
