Law student held for attempt to murder in Shimla

A first-year law student of Himachal Pradesh University was apprehended for allegedly stabbing a person with a sharp-edged weapon on Monday after a fight broke out between two groups, police said. The accused has been identified as Mohit Dogra (26) of Sundernagar in Mandi district, police added.


As per the complainant, Mukesh Kumar, a fight broke out between two groups on the law department campus. Around 1:30 pm, Dogra allegedly came out of the gate, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him in front of his friends Yograj, Dhanraj and Aman.

 

Police said the accused then attacked Dhanraj, leaving him seriously injured with a stab wound in the stomach. He was immediately rushed to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for treatment, the complaint added.

 

Dogra has been booked under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said. Officials said Dhanraj’s condition is stable. Further probe into the incident is underway.
