Gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar — once key partners in a powerful criminal alliance — have reportedly parted ways, sources revealed. The fallout is expected to complicate efforts by law enforcement and intelligence agencies to crack down on their extensive criminal networks.
According to sources, the rift between the two began following the arrest of Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother, Anmol Bishnoi, in California last November. Anmol was taken into custody for illegal entry into the United States and is currently facing an extradition request from India for his alleged involvement in multiple high-profile crimes, including last year’s murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique.
Intelligence officials suggest that Lawrence Bishnoi was upset with Brar and his new ally, Rohit Godara — based in Azerbaijan — for failing to support Anmol during the bail proceedings. Though Anmol eventually secured bail, he was released with a GPS tracker, which further infuriated Lawrence. The growing discontent led to Bishnoi severing ties with Brar.
Bishnoi is now aligned with Canada-based gangster Noni Rana, alias Surya Pratap, younger brother of the notorious Kala Rana, sho operates from Canada. The new alliance is reportedly operational, with Rana’s network involved in extortion and ransom calls on Bishnoi’s behalf.
Goldy Brar, who has been operating from the United States since 2017, has meanwhile deepened his ties with Rohit Godara. The Brar-Godara nexus is suspected to be strengthening its influence across North India and overseas.
Senior officials from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi police have held discussions with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to assess the fallout of the Bishnoi-Brar break-up and the potential implications for ongoing criminal investigations.
The Bishnoi-Brar gangs have been linked to several high-profile cases, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan. On the murder of Moose Wala, in January Brar told British broadcaster BBC, "In his arrogance, he (Moose Wala) made some mistakes that could not be forgiven... We had no option but to kill him. He had to face the consequences of his actions. It was either him or us. As simple as that."
Apart from the killing of Moose Wala and Siddique, the Bishnoi and Brar gangs have also been linked to multiple threats against Bollywood star Salman Khan, including the April 2024 incident in which gunmen opened fire at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area while he was inside.
The actor was unhurt and the gunmen were later arrested.
