In a shocking early morning crime incident, a lawyer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district while he was on a morning walk .
The deceased has been identified as Rajeev Singh. He was 40 years old and hailed from Devaru village. He is reported to be the husband of the village head (Pradhan).According to reports, he had gone for routine morning walk when the assailants on a motorbike approached him.
According to reports, CCTV footage shows two men arriving at the scene of the crime on a motorcycle. One of them got off and opened fire at Singh with a crude pistol before fleeing the scene with his accomplice.The Kotwali Katra Police have taken Singh’s body into custody and are conducting the inquest (panchayatnama) and post-mortem examination.
Based on a complaint received from the deceased lawyer's family, a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated.Mirzapur Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik has said that both the victim and the accused are from the same village and that the incident appears to have stemmed from a local dispute.
As per the details that emerged later from CCTV video footage, two men on a bike approached a lawyer in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur on Saturday and fired at him, killing him on the spot. But the panic was felt not just in the area but also by the attackers, who were unable to leave from the spot as their motorcycle refused to start. As he rushes back and sits on the motorcycle, the man riding it continuously kicks its pedal in an attempt to start it but fails.
Amid panic bystanders began closing in to apprehend them, one of the assailants pulled out a pistol and pointed it directly at the crowd, forcing them to back off, the footage reveals further.In a matter of moments, when the motorcycle engine started, the duo to speed away from the spot, leaving behind panic and chaos.
