A mutilated carcass of a leopard cub was recovered from a field in the Samapurnanagar range of the Dudhwa buffer zone on Saturday morning, with forest officials attributing the death to an attack by another leopard.
Kirti Chaudhary, Deputy Director of the Dudhwa buffer zone, informed that the carcass of the cub, estimated to be seven months old, was found with multiple injuries.
"Pugmarks of another leopard were recovered from the spot, and circumstances on the ground suggested an attack by another leopard," Chaudhary said.
She added that a post-mortem examination, conducted as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, confirmed that injuries sustained during a fight between two leopards were the cause of death.
