A leopard was seen roaming in the residential area of Sector 6 in Panchkula, Haryana, on Saturday, following which authorities launched an operation to capture the animal, officials said.
Officials said teams from the police and the forest department rushed to the spot after receiving information about the leopard’s presence in the area.
CCTV footage from the locality showed the leopard moving around the lawn of a house. In another clip, the animal was seen climbing over a wall and entering another house, they said.
The authorities advised residents of the upscale Sector 6 area in Panchkula to remain indoors as a precaution. A local resident said he noticed the leopard while returning from a doctor’s visit and immediately informed the authorities.
Efforts are ongoing to trace and safely capture the animal.
