Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, led a large 'Tiranga' rally in Srinagar on Monday, with thousands participating in the event.

Over 10,000 people joined the march, which began at the Botanical Garden by the Dal Lake.

The march proceeded to the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) before returning to the Botanical Garden.

Following the rally, a canvas signature campaign and cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and events will be held at the Botanical Garden to commemorate the country's independence.

This rally is part of the government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, encouraging citizens to hoist the national flag at home.

Similarly, on Sunday, before India’s 77th Independence Day, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Ashok Koul, led a Tiranga Yatra in Uri’s Bandi Town, Baramulla district.

The event, part of a series of rallies across the Kashmir valley, is aimed at fostering national unity and pride among the people.

The rally saw enthusiastic participation from local BJP leaders and workers, including Mudasir Wani, North, South, and Central Kashmir Incharge; Raja Waqar, District President Baramulla; senior leader Mir Mushtaq Nowshari; Haleema Begum; protocol incharge Mohammad Aqeel; district general secretary Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Malik; and constituency incharge Ashiq Rafiq.

The event began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by a procession through Bandi Town.

Political activities in Jammu and Kashmir have increased since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

The government aims to portray a sense of normalcy and stability in the region, encourage democratic participation, and integrate J&K more closely with the rest of India.

By facilitating political rallies and activities, the Centre seeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of its policies and the return of democratic processes to the region.
