Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the BJP’s UT unit on Tuesday paid rich tributes to the late Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh on his birth anniversary.
In a post on X, the Office of LG wrote: “Tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on his Janam-Jayanti. A statesman of excellence & harbinger of change, he introduced landmark reforms to ensure the welfare of the common man. His legacy of inclusive governance, progressive vision & contributions to the motherland continues to inspire us.”
The BJP Jammu and Kashmir unit also paid tribute to the late Maharaja, remembering him as the last Dogra ruler and highlighting his historic reforms in education, social justice, and governance. A BJP leader praised Hari Singh for advancing the vision of justice, equality, and development for all sections of society.
They also welcomed the Government of India’s decision to declare his birth anniversary a public holiday, acknowledging the sentiments of the people of J&K.
In a joint statement, BJP leaders said: “We honour Maharaja Hari Singh Ji; we remember his far-sighted vision and unifying leadership that laid the foundation for modern Jammu & Kashmir.”
They also said that their party remains committed to carrying forward the Maharaja’s ideals of justice, equality and development for all.
