Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a meeting of Unified Command in Srinagar to review the security arrangements for the Annual Amarnath Yatra and the current situation in the Union Territory.

Sources informed reporters that the meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, top Army officials, police and other officials to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

They added that the meeting reviewed the current situation in the Union Territory and security arrangements for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, which is likely to commence on July 3 this year.

“The meeting also focused on the fallout of the Pahalgam terror attack and the situation that evolved post ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Jammu and Kashmir,” sources added.

They also said that Sinha stressed to the army, J&K Police and paramilitary officials to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.

The security forces have also intensified security arrangements, with heightened measures around the key and critical infrastructure, especially areas leading up to the pilgrimage site.

The Annual Amarnath Yatra 2025 is set from July 3 to August 9. Registration has already started on April 14, 2025.

Pilgrims can register online via the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board website or offline at authorised bank branches. A Compulsory Health Certificate is needed. An RFID card is mandatory for all. Follow the guidelines for a safe and successful pilgrimage.

Starting on July 3, 2025, and ending on August 9, 2025, the Amarnath Yatra is a celebrated Hindu pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir.

Thousands of devotees undergo the difficult trek every year to visit the place to worship the naturally carved Shiva Lingam, a representation of Lord Shiva.
