LG Sinha, CM Omar condole deaths in Tawi River incident

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic Tawi River incident at Nagrota.

 

Both leaders expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the incident that claimed two lives on Sunday. While the bodies of two victims have been recovered, the search for the third person is still underway, with authorities and rescue teams intensifying operations.

 

LG Sinha spoke with senior administrative officials and took stock of the ongoing search and rescue efforts, according to a Lok Bhawan spokesperson.

 

“The loss of young lives is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. We stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time,” the LG said.

 

The three boys — Bavish Koul (15), Sonam Dutt (16), and Aditya Pandit (15) — were swept away by a strong current near Nagrota Sainik School on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening.

 

Rescue teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, NDRF, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have recovered the bodies of Koul and Pandit, while the search for Dutt entered its third day.

 

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed shock over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. In a post on X, he prayed for strength and solace for the affected families in this hour of grief.
