J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday handed over job letters to the next of kin of the terror-hit victims at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, officials said.
An official said that the event was aimed at supporting the families of those who lost their family members in decades-long terror-related incidents across Jammu and Kashmir.
The provision was given the nod by the LG administration recently, and today, they have fulfilled their promise of providing government jobs to eligible, deserving family members, the official said.
The official further stated that 250 job appointment letters were given by the LG Sinha himself to the victims’ families and their next of kin, who travelled from the North, South and Central Kashmir.
Sinha also assured the victim families of all possible help and said their rehabilitation would continue till they are given the rights they deserve, as their families have suffered in the militancy for the sake of national unity.
Notably, the event was organised on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
Earlier, while handing over the letters to the families of those killed in the terror attacks, LG Sinha said the families, hailing from North, Central, and South Kashmir, have endured unimaginable hardship after losing loved ones to brutal acts of terrorism over the past three decades.
Many of the people killed in terror attacks were lone breadwinners like Pahalgam victim Syed Adil Hussain Shah. Terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and other groups are operating in the Valley and targeting people.
Today's event marked the third such event organised in recent weeks. On July 13, Lt Governor Sinha distributed appointment letters to 40 next of kin (NoKs) of terror victims in Baramulla.
Meanwhile, another 80 families received their appointment letters during a program held in Jammu on July 28.
