Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a major anti-narcotics campaign in Srinagar while inaugurating the massive padyatra from the TRC football ground here in Srinagar.
The move is aimed at raising awareness and harnessing public support in favour of the ongoing war against drugs under the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan campaign launched by LG Sinha earlier last month. The effort to dismantle the drug network and narco-terrorism would continue and intensify against the drug peddlers actively operating in J&K.
Officials said the campaign will involve coordinated action by law enforcement agencies, awareness drives, and strict monitoring to identify and take action against drug peddlers and their networks.
Sinha said that there is a need for collective effort and action to fight the menace of drug abuse in the region.
He urged youth, civil society, and community leaders to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign ongoing in the UT.
He added that the administration will maintain its zero-tolerance policy towards those involved in drug trafficking and other activities.
The awareness campaigns launched by the Jammu and Kashmir administration would continue and ensure a drug-free society and safeguard the future of the youth.
He had issued a stern warning to drug peddlers to either stop engaging in the drug trade or be ready to face action without mercy.
