Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a sports enthusiast himself, congratulated the Indian women’s team for their scintillating win against South Africa.
The Indian Women’s Cricket Team won its first-ever World Cup with a 52-run victory over South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, scripting a golden chapter in the country’s sporting history.
“Congratulations to them. It is a moment of pride for the entire country,” Abdullah said.
“When the tournament started, no one expected that we would win. But they played with a lot of courage and won some very difficult matches, especially the semi-final against Australia by chasing such a big target, which was not an ordinary thing,” the Chief Minister added.
