Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for approving the construction of more than 5,000 houses in the UT under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
Sinha said, “Grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @Narendramodi Ji & Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development, Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji for sanctioning the construction of 5,061 houses which were damaged due to the recent natural calamities across rural areas of J&K.”
He added, “This approval under the special assistance scheme of PMAY-G will bring back safety and stability in the lives of thousands of households. A new house will help the families regain economic stability, significantly improving the families’ well-being.”
The approved homes will be constructed in a time-bound manner, with priority given to families worst affected by the recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative is expected to provide not only shelter but also a renewed sense of security and economic resilience to beneficiaries.
The scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to provide sustainable houses to the needy and poor.
The PMAY-G scheme, which envisions “Housing for All,” has been a major rural development initiative aimed at providing pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible families living in kuccha or dilapidated structures.
