Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday visited several areas of Jammu city to meet families affected by the recent floods, assuring them of all possible and timely support.
Sinha interacted with residents, enquired about their concerns, and directed officials to ensure immediate relief measures. He noted that long-term rehabilitation efforts would be taken up to help the affected families rebuild their lives.
Officials, who accompanied the LG, said steps were being taken to provide financial assistance, restore basic infrastructure, and address the immediate needs of those displaced by the floods.
Sinha said the government is commitment to stand firmly with the people in this difficult time and ensure that all affected families get relief.
Earlier, Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary also took stock of the situation in several areas of the Jammu division, assuring all possible help from the government.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had also visited the flood-affected areas of Jammu division, directing officials to evacuate residents from risk-prone zones.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also assessed the flood situation and announced a Rs 209-crore relief package for rehabilitation and restoration work.
Jammu and Kashmir has been battered by the continuous rainfall since August 14, and multiple tragedies have struck across the mountainous regions in the UT.
More than 130 people have lost their lives in the rainfall-related incidents across Jammu and Kashmir this year.
