Lokayukta raids K'taka govt officials in assets case

Preliminary information indicates that searches took place at multiple locations, with three officers, including a woman officer, targeted in Bengaluru: G Manjunath from Mallasandra Maternity Hospital, NK Gangamari Gowda, Special Land Acquisition Officer for the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited, and V Sumangali, an officer attached to the Secondary Education Board.

The Lokayukta team in Chitradurga raided the residence and two houses belonging to Chandra Kumar, the Agriculture Department’s Assistant Director, as well as the department office.


Lokayukta sleuths in Karnataka carried out simultaneous raids on Tuesday at the residences, properties, and offices of 12 government officers across the state, following a series of complaints related to disproportionate assets.

Preliminary information indicates that searches took place at multiple locations, with three officers, including a woman officer, targeted in Bengaluru: G Manjunath from Mallasandra Maternity Hospital, NK Gangamari Gowda, Special Land Acquisition Officer for the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited, and V Sumangali, an officer attached to the Secondary Education Board. 

In Udupi, the residence and commercial complex of LP Naik, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), were raided, with parallel searches in his native Karwar district. The Lokayukta team in Chitradurga raided the residence and two houses belonging to Chandra Kumar, the Agriculture Department’s Assistant Director, as well as the department office.

Similarly, in Bidar, officials carried out simultaneous raids at four locations following allegations of illegal asset accumulation by Dhoolappa, the Assistant Director of the Agriculture Department in Aurad taluk, targeting his homes in Bidar city and Kadyal village, and two Agriculture Department offices.

Further raids were conducted on the properties of Jyothi Mary, a First Division Clerk in Hassan; Jagadish Naik, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) for KRIDL in Davanagere; Revenue Inspector and Village Accountant Ashok in Ranebennur taluk, Haveri district; Basavesh, in-charge CEO of Savanur Taluk Panchayat; junior engineer Kiran attached to the Alamatti Right Bank Canal Office in Bagalkot; and BS Naduvinamani, junior engineer with the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (KFCSC). Initial reports confirm the raids remain underway across the affected districts.
