A Hyderabad-bound British Airways flight from London was the target of a bomb threat, leading airport authorities to trigger emergency safety protocols after the aircraft touched down on Tuesday.
The threat reportedly arrived via an email sent to the customer support service at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Monday, specifically naming flight BA 277 from Heathrow.
Once the plane landed safely, security teams moved it to an isolated bay immediately and started a thorough inspection.
The standard protocols also included screening of all passengers and their luggage. Additionally, sniffer dogs were also deployed, and keeping fire engines on standby as a precaution.
Airport sources confirmed that the aircraft was eventually cleared and has already taken off for its return journey to London. This scare comes on the heels of two similar incidents earlier this month, where emails targeted Indigo flights arriving from Madina and Sharjah. In one of those instances, the Madina-Hyderabad flight had to be diverted to Ahmedabad.
