NCP-Ajit Pawar faction MLA from Hussainabad and former minister, Kamlesh Singh joined BJP on Friday. State BJP president Babulal Marandi welcomed Kamlesh and his son Surya Singh as official members of the party today.
Notably, there was continuous opposition by BJP leaders of the Hussainabad assembly constituency, where Kamlesh Singh is from, for joining the BJP. Seven Mandal presidents held a meeting on Thursday and demanded that Kamlesh should not be inducted into the BJP.
They alleged that in the last five years, Kamlesh Singh had sent many BJP workers to jail in Hussainabad assembly constituency by implicating them in false cases and he was constantly causing harm to BJP.
The Mandal presidents had even said that if Kamlesh Singh joins the BJP, they will resign en masse and may be forced to choose some other path.
The BJP contenders in Hussainabad also showed solidarity with BJP leader Vinod Singh, who contested against Kamlesh Singh in 2019 and opposed bringing Kamlesh Singh into the BJP fold.
Notably, after Sita Soren, Champai Soren and Lobin Hembrom, Kamlesh Singh is the fourth MLA to join the BJP since the Lok Sabha elections.
