Lookout notice for 2nd accused in Kanchan Rani case

The Bathinda police have issued a lookout circular for a second suspect in the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Rani, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. The suspect, Ranjit Singh of Sohal village in Tarn Taran district, is believed to be attempting to flee the country, officials said.

The Bathinda police have issued a lookout circular for a second suspect in the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Rani, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. The suspect, Ranjit Singh of Sohal village in Tarn Taran district, is believed to be attempting to flee the country, officials said.

 

Earlier, the police had issued a lookout notice for Amritpal Singh Mehron, identified as the prime accused in the case. According to investigators, Mehron has reportedly fled to the UAE, and deportation procedures are currently underway. Two of his alleged accomplices, Jaspreet Singh and Nimaratjeet Singh, are in custody, while another unidentified suspect remains at large. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal confirmed that four of the five identified suspects are associated with Nihang groups.

 

Postmortem rules out sexual assault

 

The postmortem report has ruled out rape, SSP Kondal confirmed. "There is no mention of rape in the postmortem findings. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to confirm any sexual assault. The report concluded that the cause of death was strangulation. The viscera report is still awaited," she added.

 

Victim’s mother denies knowledge of threats

 

The victim’s mother, Girija Devi, said she had no knowledge of any threats issued to her daughter. “We are shocked and devastated. My daughter never posted anything offensive on social media. I used to see her content,” she said. She added that due to the decomposed condition of the body, the cremation was conducted in Bathinda.

 

Mika Singh condemns murder

 

Bollywood singer Mika Singh also condemned the killing in a video message. Urging Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take swift and stern action, Mika said, “True Sikhs protect women, they do not harm them. This act goes against Sikh values and must not be tolerated.”

 

Obscene video surfaces

 

Meanwhile, a sleazy video, allegedly featuring the victim and a male voice, has surfaced online. The authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the clip, but it is being circulated widely on social media.

 

Police continue to investigate all leads in the case. Further updates are awaited.
