The General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P K Mishra, on Thursday reviewed the security situation and preparedness of the troops in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, the White Knight Corps wrote that the GoC White Knight Corps, along with GOC CIF (D), on Thursday conducted an operational review in Doda and Kishtwar.
The GOC was briefed on the internal security situation, threat assessment and force deployment for the counterinsurgency operations.
“Focus was laid on maintaining area domination, enhancing surveillance and ensuring a coordinated and proactive response to emerging threats,” read the post.
The visit comes at a time when security forces are fighting with the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, in which one militant has been killed, while four security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter that has now entered its seventh day.
Earlier, security forces in Kashmir announced the killing of three terrorists who were linked to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were gunned down in the Baisaran meadow of the Pahalgam tourist resort.
This was one of the deadliest attacks carried out by the terrorists and probably the first of such nature where tourists were targeted.
Earlier on Wednesday, Lt Gen Mishra was accompanied by GOC, Ace of Spades Division, also known as 25 Infantry Division, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, during the visit to the areas along the Line of Control (LoC) under the Poonch brigade, officials said.
Jammu-based Chinar Corps, in a post on X on Wednesday, wrote, “He (Lt Gen Mishra) was briefed on the current security situation, threat assessment and operational posture of own forces (during the visit).”
