A woman from Ludhiana who had moved to Canada seeking better opportunities was murdered in what was initially thought to be a road accident. Her husband’s younger brother has been arrested
The victim, Mandeep Kaur, hailed from Gujjarwal village of Ludhiana district. The Delta Police in Canada arrested Gurjot Singh Khaira, charging him with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains as he tried to pass off the murder as a road accident and set the car on fire to conceal the crime.
Mandeep’s father Jagdev Singh Jaggie said his daughter had moved to Canada six years ago for studies and had got married in a family from Lodhiwal near Sidhwan Bet village about seven months ago. He said he was planning to go to Canada to uncover the truth behind his daughter’s murder.
