The dream of a "developed India" cannot be realised without the all-round development of tribal regions, Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Verma said on Sunday. He was speaking at Osarvira in Dahanu taluka of the tribal-dominated Palghar district after inaugurating mobile clinics and ambulance services for remote areas.
The Governor emphasised the need to bring the last segment of society into the mainstream. The resolution of a developed India cannot be fulfilled without the inclusive development of Palghar, he said.
Stressing the mantra of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Niramaya’ (may all be free from illness), the Governor said his main resolve is to ensure that quality healthcare reaches every citizen in remote areas, not just those in cities.
He assured concrete measures to address issues of employment, health, and drinking water in the tribal-dominated district.
Planning is underway at the Lok Bhavan level to resolve these problems and implement the concept of an ‘Adarsh Gaon’ (ideal village) in Palghar, he said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas’, he said that the development process must prioritise ‘antyodaya’, or the welfare of the last person in the queue.
While it is good to be a successful professional like an engineer or a chartered accountant, being a good citizen is more significant, he said, appreciating Vanbandhu Trust, a social organisation, for providing medical facilities in inaccessible terrains.
The Governor also interacted with local representatives, Collector Indurani Jakhar and assured the tribal community that the doors of Lok Bhavan would always remain open for their progress.
