Tanveer is alleged to have befriended the girls so that he could exploit them in the future.

The arrest of a 19-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Amravati district has sparked significant public fury and a burgeoning political row following allegations that he recorded and distributed obscene videos of minor girls. The suspect, identified as Ayan Ahmed Tanveer, was apprehended by the Amravati Rural Police in the Paratwada area after a tip-off alerted investigators to his activities. Although local political factions have made sensational claims regarding the sexual exploitation of over 180 minors by Tanveer and production of over 350 videos, the police authorities have only been able to identify eight victims but admit that this figure may increase as the forensic teams conduct further analysis of the mobile data collected from the suspect.

Tanveer is alleged to have befriended the girls so that he could exploit them in the future. According to the investigations, the suspect made videos of his female victims without their knowledge, later utilising the recorded content as a means to blackmail them. The accused is in custody until April 21, 2026, and will be charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IT Act, and POCSO.

However, the magnitude of the scandal increased after the arrest of another person named Ujer Khan Iqbal Khan. It has been stated that this man was the driving force behind the viral aspect of the case because he downloaded over 100 videos from the phone of Tanveer and uploaded them on social media sites. This digital dissemination is credited with triggering the widespread outrage now seen across the state. Authorities are now probing whether the duo operated as part of a more extensive organised network involved in the production or trade of such illicit content.

Predictably, the case has taken on a sharp political edge. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have been quick to highlight Tanveer’s past links to the AIMIM, suggesting he was involved in the party's social media operations during previous local elections. A local AIMIM representative has since acknowledged the past connection but clarified that the accused is no longer affiliated with the organisation. Meanwhile, opposition parties have seized upon the incident to question the state's law and order, while the government maintains that its response has been both swift and decisive.

In the regions of Paratwada and Achalpur, the atmosphere remains incredibly tense. Local Hindu organisations have called for a "bandh" or regional shutdown following a meeting at a local temple to demand the harshest possible penalties for those involved. In response to the unrest, police have deployed additional forces and set up specialised units, staffed by female officers, to encourage more victims to come forward under the guarantee of strict confidentiality.
