The SAD leader, who is also in the party’s core committee now, was picked up by the Vigilance Bureau from his Amritsar home on June 25 on charges of corruption and a case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was brought to Mohali the next day, where a local sent him to seven-day VB remand. Majithia’s remand was then extended by four days.
On Saturday, he was taken to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to gather evidence that links the money trail to Saraya Industries.
The police also detained several SAD leaders and party workers across Punjab on Sunday morning to prevent them from coming to the Mohali court where the politician had to be brought.
