A man climbed atop a 125-ft-high mobile tower in Chandigarh on Tuesday, demanding a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to resolve his land dispute.
Police managed to convince him to come down after five hours, using a skylift ladder for assistance.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurmukh Singh stated that the information was received around 8:30 am regarding the man climbing the tower in Sector 17.
A fire brigade and ambulance were deployed nearby.
The man, identified as Vikram from Haryana's Jind, is involved in a land dispute in Punjab's Mansa district. He claimed no action had been taken on his complaint, said the DSP.
Despite repeated requests from the police, Vikram refused to descend, insisting on meeting the chief minister for resolution, Singh mentioned.
The DSP personally spoke to Vikram, assuring him that his issue would be addressed, and offered to take him to the CM's residence.
Around 1:30 pm, Vikram finally agreed to come down. He underwent a medical checkup after descending, Singh confirmed.
