In a tragic incident in Delhi, a 30-year-old man died after fainting upon seeing the condition of his girlfriend, who had sent him a video of her slitting her wrist.
Arun Nanda, the deceased, rushed his girlfriend to Kailash Deepak Hospital but collapsed upon arrival and was later declared dead.
Police suspect Nanda’s death might have been caused by a cardiac arrest, though they are awaiting further details from an autopsy to confirm the cause.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday. A PCR call was made at 3:34 a.m. to the Anand Vihar police station, alerting them to an unconscious man brought to the hospital.
A senior police official reported that during their investigation, it was discovered that Nanda’s girlfriend, a resident of Jagatpuri, had self-harmed by slitting her wrist in the Anand Vihar area of Shahdara.
"Initially, we got to know that she had sent the video of her injury to Arun via a messaging app.
Upon seeing her condition in the hospital, Arun fainted and was later declared dead," said the officer.
Arun's body was sent for a post-mortem, and the doctors have preserved his viscera to further investigate the cause of death. No signs of foul play or assault have been found.
The girlfriend is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, while police continue their investigation.
