Chandigarh's Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Friday revoked the driving licence of a habitual traffic rules offender and imposed a fine of ₹43,400 after he was found guilty of 222 violations.
Among these total number of violations are 168 instances of overspeeding and 44 red light jumping.
The court also ordered the offender to complete 15 days of community service at a traffic signal, ensuring public adherence to traffic rules.
In addition, the court took a stern view of the offences, impounding the offender's vehicle. The vehicle will remain impounded until a representative of the offender appears with a valid driving licence and submits an application for its release.
Chandigarh traffic police have prepared 10 cases against habitual offenders, which have been submitted to both the CJM Court and the Registration and Licensing Authority.
Further proceedings are scheduled for February 17.
