A 55-year-old man was arrested early on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in a forest in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The accused, Shivram Parash Savar, reportedly lured the teenager into the woods under the guise of searching for a medicinal plant to treat her health issues.
According to Inspector Amar Patil of the Kasa police station, the victim’s elder sister had originally sought Savar's help on April 30 for the girl's irregular menstrual cycle, as he was locally known for providing herbal remedies. Trust had already been established because the victim's sister was friends with the accused's daughter.

On Sunday night, Savar arrived at the victim’s home and drove the girl, her 19-year-old sister, and other relatives toward the forest near Charipawan. Around 1:00 am on Monday, he parked the car and instructed the family to stay behind while he took the 13-year-old into the bushes to ‘gather herbs’. Once alone, he
raped the minor and threatened her to stay silent.
Following a complaint from the victim's sister, police apprehended Savar at approximately 4:00 am on Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sameer Maher confirmed that the accused faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—specifically Sections 64(1) (rape), 65(1) (rape of a minor), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation)—along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
