A shocking incident unfolded in Wazirpur village of Gurugram, where a man allegedly poisoned his wife and four children before attempting to end his own life. The incident came to light on Saturday night when Nazim, a resident of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The matter was first reported by the victim’s brother Zeeshan, who arrived at the family’s first-floor rented apartment around 9 pm.
He found his sister-in-law, Najma (35), and the four children lying motionless on the floor with foam coming out of the children’s mouths.
Zeeshan also saw his brother-in-law in a semi-conscious state with both wrists slit and a blood-stained knife lying nearby.
The deceased children were identified as 12-year-old Iqra, eight-year-old Shifa, eight-year-old Aaram, and six-year-old Khatija.
According to initial forensic analysis, the accused first poisoned the children and then his wife. The exact nature of the poisonous substance is yet to be confirmed.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and further medico-legal formalities before registering a formal case.
