A young man, 24 years of age, who is believed to have pretended to be a 60-year-old man intending to travel to Canada, was arrested by the CISF at the Delhi International Airport, according to a senior officer of the force on Wednesday.
The individual, identified as Guru Sewak Singh, was stopped on Tuesday evening at Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport for dyeing his hair and beard and has been handed over to the Delhi Police.
The man's activities were deemed suspicious, leading to an initial check by CISF personnel. He presented a passport bearing the name of Rashvindar Singh Sahota, 67, as his form of identification. According to the officer, he was scheduled to board an Air Canada flight departing from Delhi on Tuesday.
"The man's appearance, voice and skin texture seemed significantly younger than the details in the passport. Closer observation revealed that he had dyed his hair and beard white and was wearing glasses to appear older," he said.
Following further interrogation, the passenger disclosed his correct identity as Guru Sewak Singh, 24. The officer said a photo of a passport in this name was also found on his mobile phone.
He said that because the case involved a forged passport and impersonation, the passenger and his belongings were handed over to the Delhi Police for legal action.
