The bodies of a man and a woman were found inside a car in Sector 39 of Noida, in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Saturday, police said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the man, identified as Sumit, allegedly shot the woman, Rekha, before turning the gun on himself. Both bodies bore gunshot wounds. Police recovered a pistol and some cartridges from inside the vehicle. Initial findings indicate that the two were in a relationship.
According to officials, Rekha was a resident of Sector 58 in Noida, while Sumit lived in Trilokpuri in New Delhi.
Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Singh said the matter is under investigation and the families of the deceased have been informed. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and CCTV cameras installed near the spot are being examined to piece together the sequence of events.
In a separate incident earlier this year, on January 8, four members of a family were found dead with gunshot wounds in the Ferozpur district of Punjab.
The deceased — identified as Amandeep Singh Sodhi, his wife Jasvir Kaur, and their two children, Manvir (10) and Preneet Kaur (6) — were discovered by a domestic worker who arrived at the house in the morning. After finding the door locked, she alerted neighbours, who broke in and found the bodies inside. Police are investigating that case as well.
