Action will be taken against the operators of a zipline near Nehru Kund in Manali, where a 12-year-old girl, Trisha, who hailed from Nagpur, recently fell, as the facility was being run without the necessary approvals, Sports and Youth Services Minister Yadvinder Goma said on Wednesday.
The minister confirmed that the zipline was being operated illegally without registration from the Tourism Department or technical approval from the Mountaineering Institute under the Sports Department.
“I have found out that as per norms, the operators had neither got registered with the Tourism Department nor got technical approval from the Mountaineering Institute of the Sports department, making the entire operation illegal,” he said.
“I have directed the officials to check all such illegal run sites to ensure that no operators carry out such activities without permissions. It is the Sports Department which gives technical approvals for carrying out adventure sports like paragliding and other sports,” he said.
Though the Tourism Department issues the licence, the technical approvals after spot inspections are given by the Sports Department.
