Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired the first meeting of the governor-in-council on Tuesday, where crucial developmental and administrative matters were deliberated upon, an official statement confirmed.

During the meeting, key proposals were reviewed, and several were granted approval, although specific details were not disclosed in the statement. The discussions primarily focused on governance and policy matters concerning the state.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, along with principal secretaries, commissioners, and administrative secretaries from various departments, underscoring the importance of the discussions in shaping the state’s administrative direction.

The governor has been overseeing the administration of Manipur following the imposition of President’s Rule on February 13, which led to the dissolution of the Council of Ministers.

As the state remains under central rule, governance is being managed directly on behalf of the President of India.

Earlier in the day, Governor Bhalla held a meeting with National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) Managing Director Krishnan Kumar at the Raj Bhavan.

During the meeting, Kumar briefed the governor on the progress of various national highway projects currently underway in Manipur. He also highlighted key challenges faced during the implementation of these infrastructure projects.

Governor Bhalla emphasised the need for urgent measures to address these challenges to ensure the timely completion of highway projects, recognising their significance in improving connectivity and economic development in the state.

The discussions aimed at expediting ongoing infrastructure initiatives to facilitate smoother transportation networks across Manipur.
