The Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur, Rajiv Singh, has directed police and security agencies to intensify action against anti-national activities, illegal arms, and drug trafficking, while ensuring prompt investigation and disposal of criminal cases. During his visit to Kakching and Chandel districts on Monday, the DGP reviewed the overall security situation, policing arrangements, and departmental welfare measures, according to an official statement issued by the Manipur Police.
In Kakching district, Singh assessed the preparedness of local police to prevent any law and order disturbances in vulnerable areas, particularly during the ongoing cultivation season. He held separate meetings with officers from the district police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and central agencies to review the prevailing security scenario.
Emphasising efficiency and accountability, the DGP instructed officers to conduct thorough investigations and ensure timely disposal of pending cases. He also called for sustained operations against anti-national groups and drug traffickers, along with intensified drives to recover illegal arms and ammunition. Singh added that personnel demonstrating exceptional professionalism and dedication would be recognised and rewarded.
Later, at the 8th Manipur Rifles headquarters in Leikun, Chandel district, Singh chaired a review meeting focusing on personnel deployment, static guard arrangements, and law and order responsibilities. He urged officers to maintain discipline, uphold high professional standards, and foster a healthy work environment within the force.
DGP also advised officials to explore innovative ways to utilise available land and resources for departmental welfare.
During his visit to Chandel, Singh interacted with district police officers, representatives of civil society organisations, and personnel from the Assam Rifles to discuss key policing and security concerns. He underscored the importance of people-centric policing and appreciated the coordination between law enforcement agencies and civil society in maintaining peace and communal harmony.
Encouraging greater youth participation, Singh also urged young people in the district to take part in the upcoming Manipur Police recruitment rally.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to strengthen law and order and address emerging challenges in the state.
